Episode 8 - Egg Nog

Does anyone actually drink egg nog during the holidays?

Of course they do, but do they nog their own eggs? Probably not, but the simplicity of this recipe and the resultant braggadocio you get from being able to say you made scratch egg nog should be inspiration enough to shy away from the stuff in the carton. But hey, if the "just add booze" option works for you, so be it. Dads have enough to worry about during the holidays. Cheers!

Egg Nog (stolen from Cyril K. Collins)
Makes 8 servings, but the link above has a table if you need to scale
Ingredients:
4 eggs, separated
1/2 cup sugar, divided
1 cup
1-1/2 cups milk
1 cup Slane Irish Whiskey
1 cup heavy whipping cream, divided
Ground nutmeg to taste

Step-by-step procedure:
Separate eggs into yolks and whites in separate bowls
Beat egg-yolks with 1/2 of sugar and set aside
Beat egg-whites until stiff, then mix in other 1/2 of sugar
Pour the yolks into the whites and mix together slowly
Stir in white rum slowly
Stir in milk slowly
Stir in whiskey slowly
Stir in 1/2 of cream slowly
Whip rest (1/2) of cream and fold it into the mixture carefully. Notes on how to fold below.

Serve at room temperature by ladling the eggnog into cups and sprinkle nutmeg on the top. Wear a Santa hat. Xerox your butt. Yell at your boss. Carol merrily. And whatever you do, don't drive.
